However, the season for diving and surfing in Sri Lanka varies from coast to coast - west coast from November to April whereas in east coast from May to October.
the best Surf places of Sri Lanka is mainly located on the South and east coast of Sri Lanka however there are some places in west coast also where you can enjoy the surfing. Arugam Bay and Hikkaduwa are the busiest places of all. There many more secret surfing spots like Mirissa, Ahangama, Unawatuna, Weligama or Yala where one can also enjoy the surfing.
HIKKADUWA: The place is well known for providing the best surf in Sri Lanka but mainly in the dry season that is from month of November to march. Arugam Bay: Arugam Bay is the other suited place for the people who have the passion for surfing, the place is available with lots of water sports, under water sanctuaries at quite attractive packages and prices. Ahangama: It is the most secret place for surfing in Sri Lanka. The best place to enjoy your surfing passion without any headache and with full relaxation. Thus the place is made for those people who does not like the crowded places but have the passion of surfing.
As we all know the Sri Lanka is one of the best place for scuba diving because there are coral reefs, wrecks, colourful and attractive underwater views which you can enjoy on the beaches of Sri Lanka. Arugam Bay and Trincomalee are the places which has maximum visibility between May and September and when we talk about Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Bentota, and Mirissa are having their best visibility of up to 20 km between November to April Polhenna beach has a reef that you can reach on foot from the shore.
Shore diving is quite rare in Sri Lanka. They have generally 6 driver boats (Small boats). Some do have larger boats for about 15 divers. These dives are mainly organized before the noon but this depends on the operator of the boat. The trips of boat are quite fast that is from 10 to 45 minutes ranging on the basis of location.

Kalpitiya- it is well known for Rocky as well as Coral Reefs as well as for their Marine Sanctuary.
Negombo –they have the coral/rocky Reefs as well as marine life
Colombo - Ship Wrecks and also have Rocky/Coral Reefs
Beruwala –they have the underwater view of deep rocky outcrops
Bentota - Rocky outcrops is what they known for.
Hikkaduwa - here you can enjoy a diving with a great underwater view of Coral Reefs, Rocky outcrops, as well as Ship Wrecks.
Some of the other good places for diving are Unawatuna, Weligama, Tangalla, Basses, Trincomalee, and Batticaloa.
